In the March 8 edition of SmackDown, Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns joined Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the squared circle and several insults were exchanged between the superstars. While most of the heavy lifting on the mic from the Bloodline’s side was carried out by Hollywood Rock, Reigns did get his moment to take shots at his former Shields brother Seth Rollins.

And the Big Dog didn’t hold back with his remarks, as he went on to call the Captain America: Brave New World Star a cross-dresser, and some stressed that Reigns crossed a line with this comment. But many WWE fans did come to the WWE Champion’s defense, arguing that this generation couldn’t have handled the intensity of the Attitude Era.

Fans Came to Roman Reigns’ Defense After His Controversial Comment on Seth Rollins

Often considered the highest point of the promotion, wrestlers didn’t think twice before crossing the line and being hardcore on the mic, which can’t be replicated again in the years post-PG Era. But following the heat between the four men on Friday Night SmackDown, the boundaries were crossed, as fans stressed  Reigns went too far by calling Rollins a “cross-dresser”.

But a good portion of the fandom came to the champion’s defense, claiming that this generation is too soft and would have lost their marbles if the intensity of the Attitude Era was brought back.

While it’s true things are a lot more dimmed down in the modern era for obvious reasons, it’s important to note that all eras are very much a product of their time. And even though the Attitude Era was arguably the best time for the promotion, giving us the likes of The Rock and Stone Cold, certain things of it won’t translate well into the modern age. But while fans of the superstars argue on the web, Seth Rollins has nothing but respect for his former Shield member off stage.

Seth Rollins Deemed Roman Reigns the Greatest to Ever Do It

Although things onscreen between the two have taken an ugly turn, off the ring, the undisputed fashion king of WWE has deemed Reigns the greatest ever to do it. While the two may not always see eye to eye with one another, Seth Rollins has no problem calling Roman Reigns the very best in the business. Speaking with Cam Heyward of ESPN, he said:

“He is one of the greatest ever to do it. I’ll say nice things about him. He’s my brother, we came up together, he is one of the greatest to ever do it. I don’t always agree with him, but he is one the greatest to ever do it. No doubt.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the upcoming weeks leading up to WrestleMania 40 will unfold, as fans can’t wait to see the legends clash in the Night One of the Showcase of the Immortals.
