Indiana Jones 5 has been one of the most highly anticipated films in the recent past. There are various reasons for it. One of them is that Harrison Ford is set to make his last appearance as the titular character in the series. Ford has done extremely well and finds nostalgic for all the great work that he has turned off, waiting for the film with bated breath.
However, recently many have criticized the CGI work in the upcoming installment. The earlier films have had one of the best visuals in the business. but, the fifth sequel of the franchise seems to suffer from excessive and poorly thought of CGI. All this paints a gloomy picture of Ford’s last appearance as Indiana Jones.
Why Harrison Ford Led-Indiana Jones 5 is Receiving Criticism?
Indiana Jones is one of the most successful film franchises in American cinema that have continued to entertain the audience with each of its adventure-packed installments. Fans of the beloved franchise can rejoice as legendary actor Harrison Ford, who has been leading its sequels for the past three decades, will be reprising his character for the last fifth and final installment.
Recently the trailer was released for the final sequel titled Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, featuring Ford taking on his jaw-dropping role for the one last time. However, the film is yet to hit theaters but has already received criticism for its excessive use of CGI and poor VFX.
According to reports, Indiana Jones 5 creators had used visual effects and new creative software to de-aged the 80year old star for a few sequences in the project to make him look the same age as he did when he made his debut in the franchise.
Fans Slammed Indiana Jones 5 For Its Poor Use of CGI!
Harrison Ford recently revealed that his de-aged look is his real face as Lucasfilm used A.I. to make him appear young. The actor made this revelation on The Late Show and claimed,
“They have this artificial intelligence program that can go through every foot of film that Lucasfilm owns. Because I did a bunch of movies for them, they have all this footage, including a film that wasn’t printed. So they can mine it from where the light is coming from, from the expression. I don’t know how they do it. But that’s my actual face. Then I put little dots on my face, and I say the words, and they make [it]. It’s fantastic.”
Nevertheless, recently the project sparked controversy as many debated about the excessive use of CGI in the movie that has set the internet on fire, with fans comparing the project with its other sequels, claiming the previous sequels have used much better VFX than the upcoming installment.
A fan recently shared a series of pictures of Indiana Jones’s earlier and forthcoming movie on Twitter, along with a caption,
“The original Indiana Jones movies are some of the best-looking blockbusters ever made. Every shot is perfectly framed, with beautiful hard lighting that brings out the rich, vibrant colors. The new indiana jones looks like dark, desaturated yellow and brown digital sludge,” in response to this post, a user replied,
“Cherry-picking random screenshots from different parts of the movies doesn’t prove anything. You may have a point, who knows, but a screengrab from one random scene doesn’t illustrate anything at all. The fact this is getting likes it just people convinced they should hate this.”

or…that’s just Steven Spielbergs style and Mangold didn’t want to outright copy it. He’s always had a more muted style, it really doesn’t look THAT bad. Except for a few shots, Crystal Skull looks worse.

I mean, I too can find an unflattering screenshot from the trailer of a 2.5 hour movie that has not been released yet to make a point but I try not to

That shot of him looking back after leaving Marion’s diner gave me chills last time I saw it. It’s really weird that this new one looks so bad considering who directed it. Why forgo practical effects and just cgi the whole thing? I don’t get it
