As we near the end of the first month of the year, many new Xbox exclusives are heading our way in 2024, including the likes of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, and many more. Within this list, we are going to discuss five of the exclusives you need to play in 2024.
With the new year comes a new chapter for the Indiana Jones franchise, one fans will hope is a triumphant return to greatness, as well as some magical games on the horizon that simply put you won’t want to miss out on.
5. Ark 2
After the wonderous success that Ark Survival Evolved had, it is no surprise that a second wouldn’t be far behind. Although the original release date for Ark 2 was announced in 2020 and was due to be released in 2022, it was then pushed back to be released in late 2023, there was further delay. The latest talk is that Ark 2 will be released in September 2024.
Many players are hoping that Ark 2 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, building bases, surviving cold atmospheres, and riding on prehistoric dinosaurs. There have not been massive amounts of information released about Ark 2. Maybe Snail Games is keeping the leaks and rumours close to their chests to keep everyone in a state of suspense.
4. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
This next exclusive is the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which was one of the best-looking games of 2017. Many fans were hoping this game would come around a lot quicker than this, but as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. Hopefully, this is the case with this sequel.
Not much has been released about the story line, but what has been released suggests that the story line will follow on from the previous game with a more in-depth look into the ‘Psychosis’ side of Senua’s story. Fans will be glad to know that this is due to be released on May 21, 2024, so there’s not long to wait at all.
3. Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is the fourth game in the Stalker video game series. This game comes fifteen years after the first game in the series, which was Stalker: Call of Pripyat. This first-person shooter survival horror game is set in an alternative version of the present-day Chernobyl exclusion zone known as ‘The Zone’ where there are a number of classified laboratories that you will have to protect from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S – an acronym for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, and Robbers.
There has not been much noise made about the full extent of the story line for Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, but fans are hopeful it will follow in the footsteps of the previous games, and after a long-awaited time, fans should be able to get there hands on Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl in September 2024.
2. Avowed
This is the next Xbox exclusive Avowed is a first-person action role-playing game. The gameplay of this game allows you to use an array of ways to beat your PVE enemies, such as using magic, melee weapons, or even firearms. There are a variety of setups you can use, such as duel-wield pistols, a two-handed axe, or many other variations. As you progress through the game, you will come across many skill trees to level up while also upgrading your gear and weapons individually.
This game is not completely open-world, but there are many large areas for players to explore. As you traverse through these areas, you will complete quests and also come across many NPC players who, depending on your answers to these characters, will show the type of character you want to portray. These characters can become your companions to help you along your journey. Not much longer to wait, Avowed is set to drop in September 2024.
1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
The last Xbox exclusive on our list is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. With the massive following of the Indiana Jones film franchise, because there are no Indiana Jones video games on the most up-to-date consoles, this could see the start of a massive Indiana video game franchise.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is said to be based around the movie franchise and set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. This game will be played mostly from the first-person perspective, with a third-person perspective for certain environmental interactions. Players will control Indiana Jones through story-sensitive areas and more, combat can be directly engaged, or there are stealth mechanics.
While you are exploring these areas, you will see the main character’s signature whip make an appearance. The whip can either be used as a weapon or it can be used to help the player travel through levels, solve puzzles, and discover paths to obscured collectibles. I dare say this is the beginning of a massive franchise and should be a fantastic game to play. Although there is no official release date for this game, it should be released sometime in 2024.
