Insomniac truly sought to create a masterpiece when they were developing Spider-Man 2. A fact that is undeniable is that this game is one of the greatest games of all time and this does not only have to do with its graphics. While granted, it has some of the smoothest graphics we have seen, the game features one of the most well-done storylines.
Venom, a character we have seen wear many different skins throughout his time as a villain/anti-hero, certainly stole the show, with the game perfectly portraying the symbiote slowly taking over and causing mayhem over all aspects of Peter Parker’s life.
Feature some new and older characters, it is only natural to assume that this game was not cheap to develop. One, however, could not have assumed that this would be as expensive as it ended up being. So much so, that the game had a far higher budget than even the most expensive Spider-Man film of all time. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man film fell far behind when it comes to budget compared to the game, Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man is certainly no easy hero to adapt onto the big screen, and this is not only because he is an iconic and beloved character. There are a lot of specific, unavoidable parts of his character that are not cheap to execute, with the perfect example being all the swinging that is involved. This is why all films of the web-slinger have obscene budgets.
The highest in the bunch, however, was Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3. The 2007 film had a budget of $258 million, the highest for any Spider-Man movie. This had such a high budget for many reasons. For starts, Venom made an appearance, along with Eddie Brock, Gwen Stacy, and Bully Maguire.

Insomniac went all out when it came to Spider-Man 2. The biggest reason for this was the fact that the original became a very big phenomenon in the gaming community. It exceeded the expectations of all and went above and beyond to impress its audience.

This is, perhaps, the reason why the game developer went to great extents when it came to making the second game. It was reported by Culture Crave that the game has a budget of $315 million. This was $57 million more than Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3
