The leaked images and gameplay show off what could have been the largest superhero game you can think of, if you’re a fan of this universe. Moreover, the Spider-Verse is a collective space of some epic characters crossing paths with one another, and The Great Web could have been the home for that.
Insomniac’s missed potential for a Spider-Verse game
As fans have seen from the movies and comics alive, multiple universes within the franchise aren’t a farfetched concept anymore. Considering these leaks, it’ll hurt a bit if you’ve been following the adventures of characters like Silk, Gwen, Spider-Punk, and more; who may have not been in the live-action movies yet, but make an incredible impact through various other mediums.

Considering how each version of this universe has a unique and in-depth storyline, a multiplayer co-op game would have been the best way to see how these characters cross each other’s paths through the eyes of Insomniac.
Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever really play this one, let alone rejoice in the potential of it. Yeah, swinging around New York with your friends as their version of a favorite Spidey now feels like a distant dream.

However, the leaked pitch states how the game would have ‘unparalleled heart‘. This means that several stories from the Spider-Verse were to be told through the open-world title, and interesting narratives could have been webbed together.
