Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe is looking to expand. After a TikTok user found a room in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 featuring iconography of potentially The Hand. After walking into a bookstore, you can see behind the bookshelves in the back swords and a skull sitting on the table.
If you don’t know, The Hand is a supervillain group closely tied with Daredevil. These hints could mean Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC will bring the Man Without Fear into the universe.
This past week, Insomniac Games’ Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar has been doing press surrounding Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, during which he was asked about the sign for Nelson and Murdock disappearing, as it was a Photo Op location in Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018). Intihar admits it was a good question and asked fans to stay tuned.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe To Introduce Daredevil
The newly discovered secret room showcasing a red flag, a new symbol, and swords in the room could be hinting at Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe expanding. TikTok user, a_gamer_thats_cool, managed to get a view into the room by landing on the roof of the building before going into photo mode.
A closer look into the room, you can see the swords, shields, and a weapons rack. In addition, the light source of the room is a silver lantern, never before seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe could be adding The Hand as a cool piece of DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This way they can also introduce Daredevil into the world. The Hand is a group of very skilled ninjas Daredevil has fought many times before. Most notably in the second season of the Daredevil TV series, previously on Netflix and now on Disney+.
Fans have been seeing a resurgence of Daredevil not only in the comics but also in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man: No Way Home was his first big cameo before starring in episode eight of She-Hulk.
The Hand’s Symbol in Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe
Insomniac Games have taken a lot of liberties when adapting comic book stories for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. If this Easter Egg is hinting at DLC featuring The Hand versus Daredevil, they’re already changing things up.
The Hand’s symbol is well…a hand. It usually looks like someone covered their hand in paint and smacked it on a piece of paper. The MCU has the basic hand symbol while the comics have ninja eyes in the middle of the hand. With Insomniac’s version, they’re ditching a painted hand in favor of something more subtle.
If they plastered the room with The Hand’s usual symbol, fans would’ve immediately figured it out. However, the new symbol for Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe is a half circle with an upside down Y in the middle with a dash on the left and right. With all the dashes in mind including the ones the upside down Y makes, it looks like five fingers.
The symbol is no coincidence as it’s not only inside the secret room but on the outside building and inside the bookstore. The red flag could also be a dead giveaway of The Hand because it is their iconic color. Why would a random red flag appear outside this building in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? The inside looks quite interesting with a skull, swords, and lantern on the table.
Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) had a DLC called The City That Never Sleeps featuring three chapters about new crime waves hitting New York City three months after the Devil’s Breath situation. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks to be doing something more grand with its DLC by introducing a new villain faction, The Hand, and potentially bringing Daredevil into the universe as well.
Much like the sequel’s ambitions, this potential DLC is more vast than its predecessor and should hopefully satisfy fans in bringing more content to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe is getting more crowded with heroes as they already confirmed their next project, Marvel’s Wolverine, is in the same Spider-Man Universe.
If this Easter Eggs holds any truth to Daredevil and/or The Hand coming into Insomniac’s Spider-Man Universe, we’re just going to have to “stay tuned” as Bryan Intihar said.
