Based on the Skybound/Image comic, Amazon Prime’s season 1 of Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a teenager who comes to terms with being the son of the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man.
Creator Robert Kirkman starts the series by establishing Invincible’s world, where viewers get acquainted with the Grayson family and later the Guardians of the Globe Immortal. During the early days of developing powers of his own, Mark enjoys getting a break from his high school life and spending time with his dad and other superheroes. However, things start to get bleak when he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems. This sets the premise for the Part 1 of Invincible Season 2.

The Ending of Invincible Season 2 Part 1 Explained
Warning: The following part may contain spoilers.
Invincible Season 2, which premiered on November 3rd, tackles the domino effect of Omni-Man’s (J.K. Simmons) actions and Mark Grayson’s (Steven Yeun) life after realizing his father betrayed him. In the aftermath of the fallout, which involves Nolan Grayson beating Mark, the teenager starts working for Global Defense Agency director Cecil Stedman.
As he juggles college life and superhero responsibilities, his relationship with Amber Bennett gets tense. Meanwhile, the show creators introduce the multiversal threat in Dr. Angstrom Levy.
In the final two episodes of Part 1, titled This Missive, This Machination! and It’s Been A While, Mark agrees to help a race of insect-like aliens, whose planet is in danger. This once again puts him alongside his father, Nolan, as incidentally he is the planet’s emperor.
Omni-Man tries to convince Mark that he is a changed man after their confrontation on Earth and pleads for his help as the Viltrum Empire is hunting him down. As the pair faces a trio of Viltrumite soldiers, the end result is unfortunate and underlines just how strong their rivals are.
At the end of episode 4, Mark is left paralyzed and Viltrumites take Nolan prisoner. This is when he drops a cliffhanger by telling Mark, “Read my books.”
What Is in Omni-Man’s Books for Invincible
Although Nolan Grayson’s human side played a part in him being a weaker opponent for Viltrumite soldiers, the same could now act as a lifeline for Mark in his quest to defeat the Viltrumites.
During his secret life as a human, Nolan wrote a ton of sci-fi novels to make money for his family. Now, the key to overcoming the seemingly invincible Viltrum Empire might lie in Omni-Man’s books, which have instructions to fight the powerful force.
The comic book storyline suggests that Viltrumites can be troubled by extreme levels of heat as well as a virus, which can weaken them like a regular human.
Apart from clues about beating the Viltrumites, the book will also supposedly provide Mark with a new perspective on his difficult relationship with his father.
