Steven Yeun‘s Invincible series started streaming episodes of its second season, starting from November. The show reached its midpoint with the recently released fourth episode on November 24th. It was previously announced that the second season would be released in two parts. Now, the showrunner of the show Simon Racioppa has revealed the released schedule for the next part.

Speaking to The Hollywood Handle, Racioppa revealed that the next batch of episodes will arrive in a few months. He said this was the best way to present the narrative of the season. He said,

“The decision was made afterwards (to release Season 2 in two parts). As we started producing the show, some issues came up, talked to Amazon, so we thought this was the best way to present the show, now, with these four episodes instead of making audience wait even longer. We will come back after a few months and give you the rest.”

This is indeed upsetting news for fans who want to witness the next batch of episodes sooner. But audiences have to be patient and hope for the best as good things come to those who wait.

The Invincible series has two types of fans: those who have read the comics before watching the show and others who have come fresh into the show without any knowledge of the comics. The showrunner of the show Simon Racioppa talked about satisfying both audiences while also trying to make changes to certain elements in the comics.

Speaking to The Direct, Racioppa said that they left no stone unturned to do justice to the comics. He also revealed that he and the makers of the show had to modernize certain elements in the comics to help expand the story of the show and make it more narratively deeper. He said,

“I mean, I hope our fans get to see everything they’re looking forward to in the new season. We didn’t leave anything out. I think it’s more about… there’s places where we expand the story. There’s other stories that we adapt slightly differently than they are in the books.

So we modernize things, we bring them forward again. Robert [Kirkman] is always happy when we have ideas to just improve things a little bit, get a little deeper, go a bit further into the emotions of the storyline. But I don’t think there’s anything that we left out on purpose. It was more about finding what’s the best way to adapt this.”

The show recently dropped its fourth episode which proved to be the end of the planned release of the first part of the season. The remaining episodes of the second part will be released sometime in early 2024.
