The world was shocked when Steven Yeun, Mark Hamill, and, several other stars joined hands in voicing the iconic animated series Invincible. Premiering in 2021, the series was the animated equivalent of The Boys and received worldwide acclaim and praise for not holding back.

The character of Steven Yeun, who is Invincible himself, is on the path of discovering his powers. Being a superhero requires a supervillain who could challenge him. Luckily (or unluckily) for Invincible, a supervillain is already on the hunt to kill him. As fate would have it, however, the villain in Invincible also suffers from the same weakness that Marvel’s Venom suffers from!

Marvel’s Venom and Invincible Share A Common Point!

Fans of the currently ongoing animated series know that the Viltrumites have been causing some havoc in the world. Being an alien race that was essentially the home of Omni-Man until he decided to call it quits and head to Earth, the Viltrumites are obviously familiar with Omni-Man.

But the series isn’t entirely about Omni-man. It’s about his son Invincible and a coming-of-age story for a superhero (with some daddy issues). So the Viltrumites are considered very strong with abilities such as superhuman strength, flying, healing factor, and invulnerability. But what people do not know is that the Viltrumites have a weakness as well.

As per the comics, Viltrumites have very sensitive inner ears. Although it might help with respect to their flight and their hearing abilities, too much of a good thing is also bad. In Viltrumites’ case, if the equilibrium in their ears is disturbed due to a certain frequency, it could eventually kill them due to the intense amount of pain. Sounds similar, right? Well, Marvel’s very own anti-hero Venom suffers from the same weakness.

Taking back fans down memory lane, a young Tobey Maguire was seen fighting Venom when the church bell tower rang and Venom detached for several seconds from Maguire’s suit. The same effect will be seen in the Invincible TV series when the Viltrumites return for an attack and Invincible and Omni-man are ready to tear them to shreds!

J.K. Simmons, The Voice of Omni-Man, Has One Complaint About Invincible

Voicing the iconic role of Omni-man, J.K. Simmons received love and fame from around the world for his voice-acting skills. In an interview, with Screen Rant, the actor talked about how he has only one complaint with how the animated show is made.

One of the things that I find really interesting about the way Robert, Simon, and the whole team are continuing to conceive this is that it is like sort of riding the waves. Sometimes, their gentle waves, and sometimes, they come crashing against the rocks, because sometimes it feels like we almost lose track of Nolan, or lose focus on that character.”

With 2 seasons to its name, Invincible received a strong rating of 8.7/10 on IMDB and a whopping 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Being an Amazon original, the 2021 animated show is available to stream on Prime Video in the U.S.
