Every year, PETA selects a celebrity to be named the ‘Most Beautiful Vegan’ of the year. Who won the title the year before, do you guess? True enough, Bella Ramsey is listed as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Vegans of 2023’ by the animal rights organization.
Nowadays, the rising popularity of veganism serves as an inspiration for many people to switch to a plant-based diet. Known for her breakthrough performance as Game of Thrones’ Lyanna Mormont (2016–2019), the non-binary English actor is one such prominent figure. Ramsey, who prefers they/them pronouns, is adamantly vegan. Raised as a pescatarian, they also claim to have “no idea what a chicken nugget tastes like”.

Introducing Bella Ramsey’s Vegan Side
As a pescatarian growing up, Bella Ramsey, 20, is now vegan. If you are not familiar with the term, ‘pescatarian’ describes people who avoid eating meat but still include seafood in their diet. They also formerly declared themselves to be pescatarian, choosing to emphasize fruits, vegetables, and fish in their diet.
However, the actor, the voice behind Molly in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, ironically stated that one of the reasons they signed on for a stop-motion animated comedy flick was because they had
“No idea what a chicken nugget tastes like.”
They told The Independent:
“These messages are done in a way that doesn’t feel aggressive, or obvious. It’s one of the reasons why little me really loved the first film.”
This fascinating remark not only emphasizes her dedication to veganism but also piques interest in the reasons behind her decision to follow this lifestyle. Well, Ramsey has expressed her admiration on Instagram for Greta Thunberg, an environmentalist and vegan.
Even though Ramsey turned 20 last year, they are still frequently paired as young teens. Take The Last of Us, for example, or the teenage protagonist of the comedy Catherine Called Birdy, which is set in medieval England.
Acting Is ‘Massively’ Impacted By Bella Ramsey’s Neurodivergent
Few actors can boast of having played as many notable roles at such a young age as this 20-year-old non-binary actor. From the head of a noble house in Game of Thrones to a disastrous young witch in The Worst Witch to a fearless zombie apocalyptic survivor in The Last of Us, Bella Ramsey has nailed every role. They have received enormous praise from critics and enjoyed great success in their careers, but how has being neurodivergent affected their work?
They acknowledged in an interview with The Times that their career has been greatly impacted by the way they see the world:
“I don’t know if I’d be an actor if it wasn’t for that.”
At the age of 18, Ramsey discovered they were neurodivergent. Even though this has helped them in their acting career, they believe that it has made life more challenging. They further explained:
“One of my things is I’m very perceptive, sometimes too perceptive. I get paralysed because I just see everything – it takes me four hours to get round Tesco’s.”
Learning lines can be challenging as well. They admitted:
“I learn them in the car on the way.”
Nonetheless, they acknowledge the advantages of their increased cognizance of “micro-expressions and social cues”. They joked that adjusting to living alone has been another challenge.
“I didn’t realise how much time was spent putting on washes.”
Ramsey’s most recent part was a bit of a change from their previous roles. In the second series of BBC prison drama Time, written by Jimmy McGovern & Helen Black, they skillfully portrayed pregnant drug addict Kelsey. Reviews for the second series were likewise favorable.
Ramsey has a really lovely face: dark-eyed and moonlike, deft and naive all at once, and strikingly youthful-looking. Since being cast in Game of Thrones as Lyanna Mormont, they have already been in the business for over six years.
