Jason Momoa is set to reprise his DC role in the upcoming film Aquaman 2. The movie has been in conversation for several reasons, whether it’s about Momoa’s future in the DCU or the series of extensive reshoots following James Gunn’s plans to reboot the superhero franchise. One such discussion has also been focused on Amber Heard’s character, Mera, in the movie. Many fans have been against the actress’ involvement in the movie following the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial.

Aquaman 2 Focuses on Arthur and Orm’s Relationship

During his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, filmmaker James Wan talked about his upcoming movie, Aquaman 2. Among other things about the movie, the director also addressed Amber Heard’s remarks about her part being cut down from The Lost Kingdom.

He said that the movie was never meant to focus on her character as it would be a bromance action adventure following Arthur and his Atlantean half-brother, Orm, portrayed by Patrick Wilson in the movie series. The Australian filmmaker said,

“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm.”

He further stated that, unlike the 2018 film, the sequel will be a “bromance action-adventure movie.” The director’s statement and the first official synopsis of the movie seemingly suggest that Orm and Arthur could team up to fight David Kane, aka Black Manta.

The plot, however, seems quite similar to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor: Ragnarok. The God of Mischief served as Thor’s nemesis until the events of Ragnarok, when join hands to go against their sister and the goddess of death, Hela, and save the people of Asgard.
