Elden Ring DLC was announced in 2023 and has been in development since then with no release date. Fans have been clamoring for some details on the expansion, but the developers have remained silent. The publisher revealed during a recent Q&A session following its latest financial report that it has canceled “at least” five games that were in development.

The company said that it is changing its approach to game development and will now focus on quality. It further stated that it had to cancel these games due to their high development costs and following its internal rules taken into consideration during the evaluation of projects in development.

It added that the company’s disappointing financial reports for underperforming games were also a major reason for the cancellation of the titles. The company revealed that it recorded a 96% fall in income as compared to 2022 and an 8.9% fall in year-over-year sales of games.

The changes announced raised questions about the Elden Ring DLC’s development, but the publisher eased the minds of fans by saying that it is still working on Shadow of the Erdtree and games in the Dragon Ball series, urging players to “look forward to it.” It said:

The Elden Ring expansion was rumored to release this February around the game’s second anniversary, but the parent company of FromSoftware said that it is still in development and does not have a release date, meaning that the expansion in no way could be released this February.

There were several other leaks, such as the collaboration between Thrustmaster and Bandai for Elden Ring-themed controllers, backend Steam updates, and more, all pointing to a February 2024 release, but they were all quashed by Kadokawa.

Elden Ring is one of the best-selling titles for Bandai Namco, and the release of the DLC will probably help bring its financials back on track. Are you looking forward to the DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree? Let us know in the comment section.
