After having “poured 20 years into” the industry, Evans commented about giving his acting chops a rest and living a life away from the glitz and glamor. Out of those 20 years, giving almost a decade to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s already made enough juice for, maybe, five lifetimes!

Chris Evans Could Possibly Leave Hollywood Behind

While this uncertainty is enough to send his fans into the deep end, GQ has revealed a rather personal reason for Chris Evans to consider retiring young. According to him, he was drifting apart from himself due to the unhealthy nature of Hollywood.

Having played a confident Captain for The Avengers, Evans has been dealing with anxiety issues for the most part of his career. With each film, he faced a rise in his anxiety levels and he questioned, “Is this what I should be doing?”

“I was really apprehensive about taking the role initially,” he told GQ. I remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, and how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty.”

Despite considering early retirement, GQ mentioned that he filmed 3 projects in 2022 – Ghosted, Red One, and Pain Hustlers. But, he didn’t want to think about it too much.

Chris Evans Doesn’t Want To Keep Making Films

Although he indicated that getting to work alongside huge talents in the industry is something he couldn’t believe really happened, a script is the “last thing” he wants to read. Talking about moving to Boston, he added that it was a place where he didn’t have to be too anxious and it took him to a time where was “more pure.”

“I could just make furniture for nobody and be happy. I don’t want to occupy too much space in an industry that I’ve already poured 20 years into,” he further told GQ.

All this, but he knows how to tease his fans. Later in the interview, he was asked about his return to Marvel, and he said, “I’ll never say never. It’s something that I am very proud of.”
