Nicole Kidman in the 90s was a goddess reborn in Hollywood. Filmmakers would throw themselves at her feet and the media would be left gawking at her effortless charm and never-ending humility. With a sharp wit, elegance, and ethereal beauty to match the skills and talents she possessed, at the young age of 22, the Eyes Wide Shut actress easily caught the eye of her co-star in the Stanley Kubrick film.

However, her relationship with Tom Cruise isn’t something that has often been discussed openly with media outlets, although a little slip-up here and there is to be expected over the years.

Nicole Kidman Finds Her Great Love After Tom Cruise

Whenever asked to share her feelings on her former husband, Nicole Kidman has been somewhat mum on the subject – as she has been with every other private aspect of her life away from Hollywood. Settling in with her husband of 17 years, the Australian-American country singer, Keith Urban, Kidman couldn’t be farther from being an unhappy celebrity – a far throw from her glamorous, sensational decade with the then-megastar in the making, Tom Cruise.

After their highly publicized and notorious separation and divorce from Cruise in 2001, the Big Little Lies actress claimed in an interview for New York Magazine in 2018:

“Being married to Tom Cruise at 22 is something I’m always reluctant to talk about, because I’m married now to the man who is my great love [Keith Urban], and it almost feels disrespectful. That said, I got married very young, but it definitely wasn’t power for me ― it was protection.

I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed. I would work, but I was still very much cocooned.”

Urban and Kidman tied the knot in June 2006 merely 6 months into their relationship. The couple, who has given the audience plenty to be envious of, and adorable PDA sessions at every outing and ceremony remains ever-so-truly in love with each other. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, born in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Nicole Kidman’s Relationship History With Keith Urban

If ghosting was ever a concept, Keith Urban may have mastered it after first meeting Nicole Kidman at the 2005 G’Day USA Gala. Recounting their first meeting, the two stars shared a different perception of how it went with Kidman claiming, “I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.” But Urban, on the other hand, revealed:

“I thought she was way out of my league. I might have a wild imagination of possibilities in life, obviously, but not in a million years did I think that somebody like that would be interested in me. At all… I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life. I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. We started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless.”

On her 38th birthday, Nicole Kidman found Keith Urban standing on her front stoop at 5 in the morning with gardenias in his hands and she recalled: “That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry.’” June 2023 marks the couple’s 17 years of blissful marriage together and here’s to hoping for 17 more.
