Most audiences know Sofía Vergara from her stint in Modern Family. The Colombian actress starred as the bubbly Gloria in the much-beloved sitcom which lasted for over 10 years. Modern Family ended in 2020 and fans continue to discover and shower their love to the show to this day.
Vergara recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show where she was asked about a possible reboot of the show, Vergara dismissed the idea and provided a reasonable answer about why it shouldn’t be done now.

Sofía Vergara Thinks a Modern Family Reboot is Too Soon Right Now
Sofía Vergara‘s Modern Family was one of the most beloved sitcoms of the 2010s and people turned up for all eleven seasons which ran from 2009 to 2020. The hilarious banter between the Pritchett and Dunphy family had everyone in splits and the love for the show continues to this day.
Vergara has now moved on to do other things and is now promoting her upcoming Netflix series, Griselda. She made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she talked about playing the real-life Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. Fallon also brought up Modern Family and the incredible success it has had over the years.
When she was asked whether the cast had ever thought about a reboot of the show, Vergara dismissed it claiming that it was too early for something like that to happen. She pointed out that it has been only four years since the show ended while also reminding herself of Ed O’Neill’s (who plays Jay in the show) age. She said,
“No, it’s only been four years. I don’t know but it doesn’t seem right. I feel like we need a little more time. We don’t have much time, since Ed is old.”
Vergara is right as the series is still fresh in people’s minds and rebooting it too early will be a mistake. However, with the current trend of rebooting classic shows, Modern Family is sure to get a reboot sometime down the line.
Doing Griselda was Both Exciting and Challenging for Sofía Vergara
Sofía Vergara is gearing up for her first straight dramatic role in the upcoming Netflix series Griselda. The actress made an appearance on Good Morning America to talk about the show and her intense preparation to play Griselda Blanco. The actress revealed that her experience on the show was both exciting and challenging at the same time.
She opened up about doing a lot of ‘firsts’ in her career for the show. She was acting in Spanish for the first time in the show and underwent a lot of prosthetic makeup to look the part. She also had to learn how to smoke and do (fake) cocaine throughout filming. She said
“It’s been a pleasure and a torture at the same time to be part of this project. I’ve been working on it for a long time for over 15 years. It was hard because believe it or not, I had to act for the first time in Spanish, and I had to wear prosthetics for the first time.
I also had to learn how to smoke in my life at 50 years old, I had to learn how to do cocaine, not real one, but pretend cause there are scenes in the TV show that required it.”

It is great to see Vergara branching out as an actress and moving on from her Modern Family persona. All six episodes of Griselda are set to premiere on Netflix on January 25, 2024.
