Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova is getting a new look reminiscent of Scarlett Johansson’s platinum-blonde Black Widow hair in Avengers: Infinity War. The character rose to prominence after her stint in 2021’s Black Widow.
Pugh reprised her role in Disney+’s Hawkeye and will return as the iconic character in the upcoming Marvel’s Thunderbolts*.

Speaking with People at the San Diego Comic-Con, actress Florence Pugh talked about the making of Thunderbolts* and why it’s a special movie for her.
I feel like this is something that we’ve never seen before from Marvel. I feel like it’s a very open and honest and truthful idea. And I’m just really excited for people to watch it.
She admitted that the movie “has been years in the making” but argued that “there would be no point in doing this story unless we did it properly.” Hence why the filming production took so long to finish.
The actress argued that there’s no sense in bringing the characters together and telling their individual storylines “unless we actually spoke the truth about how they’d be feeling” and this can only be achieved in the way they filmed it.
While fans are absolutely excited to see what’s in store for them, an early look at Yelena Belova did not appeal to their taste. She’s now sporting a short platinum blonde hair, just like what Scarlett Johansson wore in one of her Avengers films. It seems like the new hairstyle isn’t impressing the netizens. The cast of Thunderbolts* also includes Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, Harrison Ford, and Geraldine Viswanathan. Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are also expected to reprise their Marvel roles.
Florence Pugh On Returning As Yelena Belova In The MCU
Pugh expressed her relief while speaking with Critics Choice on being able to finally talk about Thunderbolts*:
Part of the fun is that you’re never allowed to talk about anything for the entire two years that you plan doing this movie and then this is the first time that you’re allowed to actually show what you’ve done.
She said it was fun to “actually get to let go and you actually get to be proud and be impressed by the work that you’ve done” especially after being secretive about it for quite a long time.
Finally, Pugh professed how it felt so good to attend events with her costars and have the time to rave about their upcoming project.
Thunderbolts* is slated to hit theaters on April 30, 2025.
