Robert Pattinson is an iconic actor known for portraying the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise followed by Batman in The Batman (yeah, quite the jump). With an expansive career to his name, Pattinson is quite an actor who is loved worldwide.
However, it seems that Pattinson wasn’t doing good on his hygiene when he was a part of the Twilight franchise. As per reports from an insider and even his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart, Pattinson allegedly had a bad smell around him during the filming of Twilight!
Robert Pattinson Was Allegedly Not Hygienic During Twilight!
After his fame as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Pattinson was hired for the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight. Being a movie about vampires and werewolves (and a love triangle in between), the movie had a pretty animalistic and forest-like tone to it.
As per a report by E! News, Pattinson developed a rapport for having poor hygiene! The report indicated that Robert Pattinson had an awful smell around him and even alleged that the actor did not take baths!
The report stated that an insider, who knew about this information, revealed that the actor’s smell used to drive people crazy while on the sets of the film.
“He stinks. I mean, it’s awful. He never showers, and it drives people on the set crazy. He completely reeks.”
However, this wasn’t the end of the matter as his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart defended the criticism. She, however, did suggest that there was just an animalistic thing going on with Pattinson.
“It’s kind of an animalist thing that goes on. It went along with the movie, so it was perfect.”
Although it may have worked out for the movie, the rumors stuck around for a while. There is no proof that may confirm or deny the story, but it seems that Pattinson wanted that natural feel around him. Speaking of smells, Robert Pattinson isn’t the only one who doesn’t use a deodorant!
Matthew McConaughy Hasn’t Used A Deodorant In 20 Years!
Sharing the joy of an au naturel smell, veteran actors Matthew McConaughey and Viggo Mortensen have also been rumored not to take a shower or use deodorant! In a 2005 interview with People, Matthew McConaughey revealed his thoughts on what he should smell like.
Stating that he prefers an au naturel smell around him, the Interstellar star revealed that he hasn’t used a deodorant in 20 years. The actor further stated that a man should smell like a man!
“A man should smell like a man. I haven’t worn deodorant in 20 years.”
Alongside McConaughey, Viggo Mortensen also went too much into his character of Aragorn from the Lord of the Rings franchise. Co-star Sean Bean (who portrayed Boromir in the franchise) revealed that Mortensen used to sleep in the woods!
“Bear in mind, he was very smelly.” added Sean Bean
So all in all, maybe actors get carried away with their character or create a philosophy like Matthew McConaughey. On the other hand, Robert Pattinson was last seen in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman which received rave reviews.
