People in the entertainment industry seem to get into awkward and embarrassing situations all the time, especially after getting drunk at some major events and afterparties. And while we do know that the first name to have popped into your mind after reading this must have been Jennifer Lawrence’s (sorry Jen, we still love you!), this one’s about someone else entirely: Robert Pattinson.
As it turns out, Pattinson once got drunk enough to get into a fight after midnight with none other than the iconic diva who made her way to becoming one of the top artists in the music industry from scratch, Adele. And, unsurprisingly enough, things didn’t really turn out all too well for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire star, as he later admitted just how much he regretted that encounter.
Robert Pattinson Once Got Into a Drunk Fight With Adele!
Drunk people tend to make mistakes all the time, and some really humiliating ones at that. And as it seems, the Hollywood heartthrob Robert Pattinson once became one of those drunk people who had a bit too much to drink to the point where they got into a drunk argument.
However, while an argument doesn’t seem that bad, what actually makes it ten times more embarrassing than what it currently sounds like, is the fact that the person Pattinson got into a fight with was none other than Adele. And yes, this did seemingly happen past midnight.
That’s not all. As you continue to make that iconic cringe-grimace face that Steve Carell made in The Office, allow us to enlighten you with what the argument was about: As per what Pattinson shared, he apparently told the then-six-time Grammy winner that she was “not ambitious enough.”
As the Twilight actor shared during an episode of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight:
“I had this argument with Adele,” Pattinson admitted. “I was like, ‘You know, you could really just reach for it!'”
Oof, that must have hurt later. But what’s iconic was the Rolling in the Deep singer‘s response. As Pattinson continued to share:
“She said, ‘You do realize that I’m the biggest-selling female artist ever?’ For some reason, I decided to get into an argument with her about it.”
Getting into an argument about “not showing enough ambition” with a singer whose album 21 literally set several whopping chart records? Well, ouch, because that must have been genuinely embarrassing, no doubt.
But, needless to say, that was all the alcohol’s fault, considering how The Batman actor further shared just how humiliated he was with himself as soon as he woke up the next morning and realized just what he had done.
Robert Pattinson Felt Instant Regret Slapping Him the Next Morning
During the same interview, Pattinson also admitted, live, that telling the Hello singer to show at least a little bit of ambition was “probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever said,” even while being drunk to the verge of boneheadedness when he was not in the right frame of mind.
Continuing, he then let out just how much he regretted all of what had happened during his encounter with the now 35-year-old singer in the middle of the night. He said:
“Yeah, and then waking up kind of really, really regretting every word I said,” Pattinson admitted.
Nonetheless, Pattinson doesn’t need to regret too much as the Skyfall singer just may have really taken his words to heart, considering all the Grammys and other prominent accolades she has won and been nominated for ever since to date! (Pun intended, Adele was born brilliant.)
