Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be known for their many individual accomplishments over the years, including their stunning films, collection of Oscars, and their timeless, breathtaking, and drop-dead gorgeous beauty that only seems to be getting finer with age. Combine them together, and the world was rewarded with a couple that was not only regal but inexplicably influential in contemporary culture, so much so that it was defined as “the end of an era” when Brangelina split up into two individuals once again.

But just like the rest of the world, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie too were once madly in love with each other, and the glorious decade that followed was crowned with gifts, each more lavish than the next, to celebrate the Saint Valentine’s Day and to proclaim their love for each other.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Unique Valentine’s Day Gifts

As the former couple aka Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship progressed through the years, their gifts to each other became increasingly lavish and extravagant, each a sum total of yet another year they spent together since they first became linked in 2005. The Mr. & Mrs. Smith pair, despite the ugly start of their relationship, overshadowed every other aspect of their lives and accomplishments to become the single greatest entity known as Brangelina. It was only right that their Valentine’s Day gift to each other would be just as grandiose in their worth.

However, while Jolie liked to splurge on her then boyfriend-turned-fiancè, Pitt did the exact opposite – choose the funny route when it came to gifts. In 2013, Pitt famously gifted his partner an ‘Eat Whatever’ breath mint that comprises a swallowable gel capsule and a mint to follow it up with. An insider source close to the pair revealed later to Us Weekly,

“It is sort of a joke — and not. He always teases her that she has bad breath. It’s a joke gift… he’ll also get her something more serious.”

Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, doesn’t take her gift-giving duties lightly. The Eternals actress’s presents to her beau have ranged from a 200-year-old tree in the south of France to a waterfall in California to diamond pendants engraved with messages to a $1.6 million helicopter complete with flying lessons.

The Hollywood Aftermath of the Brangelina Split

The ever-graceful couple that had once been at the untouchable center of Hollywood fascination and mystique parted ways after a decade together when Jolie filed for divorce in September 2015. The unprecedented move occurred in light of events that happened on an airplane, where Pitt had allegedly assaulted Jolie and his eldest son, Maddox, in an inebriated haze. The assault was then followed up by an FBI investigation which was subsequently dropped due to the lack of enough evidence to pursue and build a case.

The complicated divorce settlements carried on for another half a decade with the couple’s joint estate of Château Miraval, the French winery they bought in 2008, becoming the crux of their negotiations. In October 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her 50% stake in the estate to a subsidiary company of the Stoli group, completely blindsiding Pitt in the process who wanted to acquire ownership of Miraval for himself.
