Jacob Elordi is currently one of the up-and-coming actors in Hollywood, who got his big break thanks to his role in HBO’s Euphoria, where he portrayed a deeply damaged teenager. He was also a part of Kissing Booth but stated on record that he wasn’t proud of his association with the films. That said, Elordi also starred in Priscilla, which also received considerable acclaim. The movie has also resulted in recent praise from Jane Campion, for director Sofia Coppola.
Jacob Elordi’s incredible height and physical presence have helped him excel in any role given to him, regardless of genre. That said, there is no doubt that his role as Elvis Presley in Priscilla has made fans see him in a whole different light.
Oscar Winner Jane Campion Gave Sofia Coppola Her Flowers For Priscilla
Priscilla is a biographic film about Priscilla Beaulieu and Elvis Presley, starring Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley and Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Beaulieu/Presley. The film was a hit with critics as it earned a whopping 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
While penning a review of Priscilla via Variety, Oscar winner Jane Campion made it clear she absolutely loved the film and gave Director Sofia Coppola her flowers, stating that there was a lot of daring, risk, and rigor in Coppola’s filmmaking.
”Don’t be fooled by the apparent softness of Sofia Coppola’s vision or the gentle sensitivity of her gaze, it’s just that Sofia plays soft to deliver tough. There is so much dare, risk and rigor in Sofia’s filmmaking, so much radical trust that it scares the pants off lesser filmmakers. Sofia might indulge in some delightful period joys like painted toenails on carpet piles — YUM — but the truth, the radical freedom and presence of her actors Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi is exceptionally real. How does she get these performances? It’s a mystery and it’s Sofia’s high-wire act of zero manipulation, her super power of dare and Zen.
What she unfolds in “Priscilla” is a love story between a 14-year- old lonely girl touchingly and unflinchingly determined and Elvis, the hip-swiveling sexy heartthrob of the world. It is a rare and breathtakingly intimate portrait of a love affair that blooms then sours. Elvis cherishes the young Priscilla and grooms her to his taste — the massive black beehive and curated wardrobe — but he’s bossy and spoiled, a grieving mummy’s boy, a cheat, a disinterested lover and all too soon a broken then tragically dead superstar. It’s a terrible deflation but also liberating — how much have all of us 14-year-old girls wanted to capture the heart of a rock star? What greater reassurance could there be for anxious socially awkward teens that we are beautiful and special? But Sofia is here to tell us, all that, it’s a dream then a f-king nightmare, and her staging and the actor’s performances are so brilliantly true we just can’t doubt it.
Jacob Elordi has proven to the world that he is here to stay in Hollywood thanks to his role as the King of Rock and Roll. We will have to wait and see whether he will end up having more hits under his belt in the future.
Jacob Elordi Declined To Audition As Superman
Following Henry Cavill’s departure from Superman, many fans wondered who would end up donning the iconic red cape next. Rumors quickly spread that Euphoria heartthrob Jacob Elordi would portray Superman, but those rumors were put to rest very soon.
While speaking to GQ, Jacob Elordi opened up about growing up admiring Heath Ledger and Christian Bale and enjoying their roles in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies. However, Elordi revealed that he refused to audition for DC’s Superman as he felt it was too dark for him.
They asked me to read for Superman. That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.”
Jacob Elordi has a lot going for him in his career so far and the sky is truly the limit for the 26-year-old megastar. Only time will tell whether Jacob Elordi will eventually be hailed as one of the greatest of his generation in the future.
