Despite Bo-Katan’s strictly platonic relationship with the titular protagonist of The Mandalorian, fans have always looked for a romantic spark between the two or hoped for one. Wishful thinking, really, since the Disney flagship series has never once insinuated anything other than a sense of camaraderie and mutual partnership between their characters. But it looks like Din Djarin got the girl after all, even if their amorous moment ended up in the cutting room at the end.

The Mandalorian Kissed Bo-Katan in Season 3

Over the course of three successful seasons of Jon Favreau’s Space Western television show, Bo-Katan and Din Djarin have never outright indicated any romantic feelings toward each other, let alone indulge in such trysts. Needless to say, the prospect of something even akin to love between Mando and the lethal redhead warrior has always been off the table. Apparently not though.

Katee Sackhoff, the actress who plays Bo-Katan in the live-action Star Wars series, recently revealed that an outtake from The Mandalorian 3 involved a kiss between her character and that of Pedro Pascal‘s eponymous hero. Well, it was Brendan Wayne who locked lips with Sackhoff, one of the other men under the Mando helmet, but you get the sentiment.

When a fan asked Sackhoff, 43, what her “favorite”/ “most emotional scene” with Pascal, 48, in the last season of the show, the former revealed it was one when she was having her Jack Dawson moment on the front of the boat. “The scene between Bo and Mando on the front of the boat is like our Titanic moment,” she said at the Phoenix Fan Fusion 2023.

“Like, ‘I’m the queen of the world.’ I wanted to stand at the front of that boat. It was begging for me to do that…”

Later, when The Clone Wars star was asked whether the duo ever “gave it a shot” in any outtakes, Sackhoff admitted that they indeed did.

“There is definitely an outtake where Brendan Wayne grabbed my face and kissed me through the Mando helmet,” she said. “It was quite funny.”

While their sweet smooch was obviously the highlight of that scene for Sackhoff, it wasn’t the only reason why the sequence holds a special place in her heart.

“That scene for me was really, really important,” she remarked. “Because it’s that scene where he says that, ‘Your song is not yet written.’ That was like, it was so hard to not cry during that scene.”

And even though their kiss never made it to the screens, much to fans’ dismay, that scene alone was powerful enough to make even Sackhoff “ship” Bo and Mando. “I was at home going like, ‘Oh my god, he loves her so much…’ I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m shipping them,” she exclaimed.

As for whether there’s room for any intimacy between the two in season 4 of The Mandalorian, no one can tell, albeit it seems unlikely such a thing would occur. Especially given the way the last season came to an end. But one can always hope.

The Mandalorian seasons 1-3 are on Disney+ for streaming.
