Bradley Cooper is one of the bigwigs in the Industry. The Silver Linings Playbook star has cemented his spot as one of the leading men in the industry. As if featuring in franchises like Hangover wasn’t enough, he also bagged the role of Rocket Raccoon, the all-guns-blazing badass we all love in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Life has been good. But it did come at a cost for him, that is at the cost of his own morality.

The world knows that Bradley Cooper starred in the Guardians of the Galaxy. But what the world doesn’t know is that it was because of a lie that he managed to scale great heights in the industry.

There was a time when things weren’t looking so up for the Burnt star. With the turn of the century upon us all, things were still looking gloomy for him. He still was in desperate need of a breakthrough role though. And he got his chance in 1999, starring in Season Two of Sex and the City.

Bradley Cooper played the role of Jake, a fleeting love interest for Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. And his career would never remain the same because of it. But he bagged that role because of a lie.

The role came with an additional requirement. The Limitless star would have to drive a vintage sports car, something he wasn’t exactly familiar with. Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon shared what went down in the course of the shoot.

Things could have been way different had Bradley Cooper failed to pull that drive off

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Cynthia Nixon said,

“He told them he knew how to drive a stick because it was his first job and he was desperate to get it. And then the time came for him to pull out, and he was like, ‘I don’t know how to drive a stick.’”

Looking back at the time, the 48-year-old remembered how he managed to pull that scene off (albeit with a little help) from Sarah Jessica Parker in the passenger seat. And as fate would have it, that was his big break. It was his stint in the series that opened the doors of Hollywood for him. No one knows what could have been his fate had he not bagged the role. And the majority out there would obviously be grateful for how things turned out.
