Shields and actress Drew Barrymore share a similar lifepath where they had to take care of their mothers whom they “needed to navigate, and keep alive and take care of”. Barrymore once talked about legally divorcing her mother at the age of 14. The two actors had a chat when Brooke Shields sat down on The Drew Barrymore Show last year.

“It was just the way it should be it was No One’s Gonna Get You I’m gonna I’m gonna be there I’m I’m there first you’re mine I’m not gonna give you to somebody and I’ll protect you I’ll answer the guys of protection but it was more ownership and fear” – Brooke Shields on the Drew Barrymore Show

Barrymore then replied that Shields’ mother was the “original momager” and that her mom became a momager “in honor of Teri Shields”.

“We’re sitting here laughing about the fact that our moms were so in love with us that they behaved so absolutely inappropriately and we have our sense of humor intact and I love us for that,” said Barrymore

“I mean, they’re our moms,” Shields concluded on the Drew Barrymore Show.

Brooke Shields is all set to play the leading role of Lana in Netflix’s Mother of the Bride which will start streaming on May 9, 2024.
