Working with Harington was great, at least, Chan thinks so. Her character Sersi has a special connection to Harington’s Dane Whitman aka Black Knight. Earlier, it was in the buzz that the Game of Thrones star was all set to appear in Mahershala Ali’s Blade, but later it was confirmed that Harington was axed from the movie.

In praise of her Eternals co-star, Kit Harington, British actor Gemma Chan could not stop gushing about the Gunpowder star. Speaking with Marvel, Chan revealed about the diverse cast, balancing characters, and the action-packed thrill in the movie while revealing her experience entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside her co-stars.

“Well, first of all, I should say I feel very lucky to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Chan told Marvel. Being part of this new phase and “a new group of characters is quite exciting. And I think this film is trying to do something a little bit different than what has come before,” she added.

Chan took a moment to share her experience working with her British co-star Harington. “Kit Harington’s lovely,” she said of the Extrapolations star.

“He’s great. And Dane and Sersi have a special bond, because he’s really the first human that she’s fallen in love with. And you can really understand why their relationship works. Dane is very assured, actually. There’s a kind of quiet confidence about him that Sersi finds attractive. And, yeah, they have fun together as well. You can see why they’d be together, and why Sersi cares about him. It was really fun to play those scenes with Kit.”

Although Harington only appeared in the post-credit scene as Dane Whitman, the actor had the potential to venture out into other worlds of MCU heroes. Also, it would be exciting to see him in his Black Knight suit being engaged in action.

It has been two years since a new pack of superheroes with exciting stars came on screen with action in Eternals. However, the movie did not perform as well as expected. It received mixed critical responses and managed to gross only $402 million worldwide against the high production budget of $236.2 million.

Of course, the post-credit scenes have opened the potential doors for Harington as Black Knight. However, the extension of the Eternals characters in a sequel is very unlikely as the MCU has no plans for the movie as of yet. But Black Knight was in the buzz as he was all set to appear in the highly anticipated Mahershala Ali movie, Blade.

However, Harington gave a contrasting update responding to the buzz. “I think there was some misunderstanding about whether he was going to be in the ‘Blade’ movie,” he said appearing at Superhero Comic-Con (via X).

“He was never meant to be in the Blade movie and isn’t. At this stage, I don’t know. At this stage, I hope he gets used. I know there’s some really fascinating parts of that character which would be beneficial to delve into and interesting, which is the aspects around his mental health things and specifically about addiction with that character which I think is really interesting.”

Harington is hopeful that “they use him. I hope that the Black Knight comes along. I hope that Dane Whitman is that character but, at this stage,” he added. “I can’t tell you anything. But I think the intention is to develop him at some point.” As of now, Black Knight is pretty uncertain but MCU might bring the character up somewhere but fans have to wait for it to happen.
