Vince Gilligan’s crime drama series, Breaking Bad is one of the best drama series ever to be made. From its casting to its impeccable storyline, everything about the show is as perfect as it could be. Starring Bryan Cranston as the lead protagonist who goes on to become the show’s antagonist as the series progresses, the series is a benchmark that others have been following suit.

Also starring Bob Odenkirk as the infamous lawyer Saul Goodman, he later headlined a spinoff of the show based on his character called Better Call Saul. Yet, Odenkirk is not convinced of the show’s legendary status. In an interview with The Guardian, the actor remarked,

I’m aware of how fast pop culture moves these days. A lot of the things that I’ve done on a more cultish level will be forgotten in a very short amount of time… The truth is even a show like Breaking Bad, in a few years I’ll probably have to remind people of what it is.

While many would disagree with him, Odenkirk gave the example of another former legendary TV show M*A*S*H to prove his point.

I remember getting a brochure in the mail for a celebration of M*A*S*H, the TV show. And I remember thinking, ‘Wow, who remembers M*A*S*H?’ Try to tell a 25-year-old about M*A*S*H. They won’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. It was the biggest thing for 10 years, and it’s just completely gone.

While it is true that hardly anyone now remembers the war comedy-drama, times have changed. With Breaking Bad easily available on platforms like Netflix, there is a high chance it will fare much better than former legendary TV shows of yesteryear.
