When Daniel Radcliffe got the opportunity to feature in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise, he had no idea how his life was about to change. The Guns Akimbo star would rise to stardom overnight after Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone hit the theatres. But with great fame, come crazy fans. Radcliffe had to deal with his fair share of the same over the course of the years, including even taking some extreme measures.
Daniel Radcliffe had an experience to forget
The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most loved franchises of all time. Fans go gung-ho at the mere mention of anyone associated with the franchise. Daniel Radcliffe was no different. The 34-year-old found himself surrounded by people who were crazy to catch one glimpse.
Run-ins with fans whose love bordered on insanity were a common sight for him. Radcliffe once ran into one such fan in New York while he was promoting Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
When Daniel Radcliffe met Mrs. Radcliffe
Years down the lane, Radcliffe opened up about his run-in with one “Mrs. Radcliffe”. In an interview with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, he shared the story of one of his craziest fans. He said,
“This is a girl who was for the whole time we’re in New York promoting the fourth film was holding a big sign saying ‘Mrs. Radcliffe is here’.” (Unscripted)
That wasn’t all though. Things got really interesting when the Victor Frankenstein star’s entourage happened to stop right next to the fan.
The real-life spell to avoid crazy fans
Daniel Radcliffe recounted the encounter. He said,
“We pulled up at some traffic light and stopped there and then her car pulled up next to ours and she tried to climb out of the window of her car and through the window of our car, without touching the ground.” (Unscripted)
Much to the Horns star’s relief, she didn’t get in. Co-star Emma Watson had a question – did the girl hurt herself? Radcliffe had a simple response – “I don’t know. We drove off.”
Everyone couldn’t help but laugh at the moment. The Perks of Being A Wallflower star asked did the girl “slide down the pavement?” Radcliffe clarified that nothing of the sort happened, saying,
“We didn’t run her over. It wasn’t a hit and run.” (Unscripted)
It might not have been a hit-and-run, but it was an experience to forget for the Kill Your Darlings star.
