Yuji Itadori and Sukuna, the protagonist and the antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen have been finally pitted against each other in a one-on-one as every other sorcerer has been defeated by the King of Curses. The last chapter of Gege Akutami’s masterpiece ended with Yuji Itadori finally awakening and landing a big black flash on Sukuna.
While Yuji has been fighting Sukuna, their battle generally involves a third party who distracts Sukuna while Yuji tries to extract him from Megumi Fushiguro’s body. However, the events of Chapter 256 indicate that Yuji is now going to face Sukuna alone and will finally be able to confront him for all the evil things he did to him and his friends.
Yuji and Sukuna have shared a connection since the beginning. Although initially it was believed that he was the vessel for the King of Curses, a recent theory states that he might be the perfect replacement for Sukuna.
Sukuna And Yuji Itadori’s Relationship in Jujutsu Kaisen
Despite spending a great deal of time together, Sukuna and Yuji detest one another and everything they stand for. Both of them are polar opposites and while Yuji has tried to form a bond with Sukuna, Sukuna has always shown hatred towards Yuji. He has personally expressed his resentment towards Yuji’s selfless personality.
Not only that Sukuna has been seen taunting Yuji multiple times because of his inability to become strong or win a fight on his own and ask for Sukuna’s help in the end. Sukuna may be evil but he respects strong characters, and although Yuji has had some minor accomplishments, none of them were able to persuade the King of Curses to develop a sense of respect for him.
Another factor that adds a unique perspective to Yuji and Sukuna’s relationship is that Yuji is the first and probably the only vessel in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen world, who is able to eat Sukuna’s fingers and still have control over the body. This indicated that there was some kind of connection between the two.
Theory States Yuji Itadori Will be The Next Sukuna
According to a popular fan theory that has been going around the internet, Yuji might not be a vessel or a relative of Sukuna, but he might just be the next Sukuna. The last Jujutsu Kaisen chapter ended with Yuji finally awakening and a special panel was focused on his eyes, which looked quite similar to that of the King of Curses.
This has led to the belief among Jujutsu Kaisen fans, that Yuji might be the perfect replacement for Sukuna. Also, there have been other factors that support this theory. The first one among them is that both characters can copy other character’s techniques by seeing them or learning a little about them.
Yuji displayed this by instantly copying the Black Flash in season 1 and the blood manipulation technique after just learning a little about them and Sukuna displayed this while copying Jogo’s fire cursed technique and Mahoraga’s world Cutting Slash in the manga.
Another factor that weighs in the probability of Yuji being the next Sukuna is that both characters are insanely strong and can adapt as the battle progresses. While Yuji has been lacking till now, he has caught up to the speed of Sukuna and might be the best character to replace the villain in Jujutsu Kaisen.
