Players of Marvel’s Spider-Man might recall that when the remastered version of the game was released, John Bubniak was replaced by Ben Jordan as the face of Peter Parker. While this decision was met with a mixed reception, fans appear to be much more on board with the new design. Some have even claimed it looks much more like Jordon than the remastered version. Although some gamers may still hold on to their favoritism over the original version of Peter Parker, there will likely be a much greater shift once Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally available.

Mary Jane and Miles Morales have also been getting a lot of attention. While it appeared Insomniac went for a complete remodel of the former, the face model is actually the same, however, vocal fans believe it looks much more realistic, less plastic, and not as computerized. As for Miles Morales, gamers are loving his new haircut, saying it adds more dimension to his face. Other than the character’s haircut, which lends to the nine month time jump in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there have not been many noticeable changes to the character  outside of a slightly different face model.

James Stevenson, the Community and Marketing Director at Insomnic Games, recently became involved with the fan responses when he took to Twitter to add his own comments. In response to a tweet saying how good the character designs look, Stevenson stated:

“And it’ll be even better by launch”

It is clear from his comment that Insomnic is not done working on the character models for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is an important development for fans. It shows the developer behind the highly popular web-swinging superhero is taking special care to bring these dynamic characters to life. It shows a commitment to the franchise not to settle with the same old designs and to bring new and fresh ideas to the sequel. When Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20, gamers will finally get to experience the majorly anticipated title and witness these new designs first hand.

What do you think of the new character models coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Are they a great new look for these iconic characters? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
