Getting fired from the DCU, Cavill talked about his decisions and stated that the writers of The Witcher series did not respect the source material. One of the writers from the series, Beau DeMayo, who is also the writer for X-Men ‘97, seemed to agree with the statements!

Beau De Mayo Agreed With Henry Cavill’s Statements

The Netflix show started airing in 2019 when showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and veteran actor Henry Cavill joined hands to create The Witcher. After 2 successful seasons, fans were finally excited for a fantasy series that stayed true to the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski and the games by CD Projekt Red.

That happiness was short-lived as while shooting season 3, Cavill announced that he would be leaving the franchise for good. Citing creative differences as the reason, Cavill stated that he did not enjoy working with Lauren S. Hissrich.

It was soon announced that Cavill would be replaced by Liam Hemsworth and the fans were in an uproar. On the other hand, writer Beau DeMayo, who was a part of The Witcher and the 2021 film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf seemed to agree with Cavill’s statements in an interview with the Science Fiction & Fantasy Gazette.

I’ve been on [a] show – namely Witcher – where some of the writers were not or actively disliked the books and games (even actively mocking the source material.) It’s a recipe for disaster and bad morale. You have to respect the work before you’re allowed to add to its legacy.

Naturally, Beau DeMayo decided that when he would work on his 2024 MCU series, X-Men ‘97, he would only bring certified lovers of the original series. Before Cavill’s exit, it was rumored that The Witcher series would run for a total of 7 seasons.

Recent articles and reports, however, confirm that the series will likely end with only 5 seasons to its name. Without Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia pointing the way, one actress is quite relieved that the show would be ending a bit sooner!

Freya Allan Is Happy That The Witcher Is Ending

As mentioned earlier, the series was initially set to run for a combined of 7 seasons. Due to some reasons, however, the team behind The Witcher announced that they would finish the story within 5 seasons.

Without Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia in the mix, his co-star Freya Allan, who portrays the role of Ciri in the series, spoke about the end of The Witcher. In an interview with The Inverse, the actress revealed that she actually felt relieved with the lesser amount of work that she would have to do.

I was so kind of finished with it mentally. Initially the challenge was thinking that I had to do two more. It’s going to be the end of a massive chapter, which I’m excited for and ready for. But I think when I actually get to it, I’m going to be shocked at how much that hits me.

Well, it is indeed a lot of work shooting a fantasy series. With Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill in the upcoming season of The Witcher, fans are waiting for the chaos to unfold as the first look of the new Geralt of Rivia was revealed recently.

Without a release date for the fourth season of the show, Netflix’s The Witcher currently stands at a rating of 8/10 on IMDB and a whopping 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. With 3 seasons to its name, the show is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
