Chris Miller’s Projection on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

During an exclusive interview with Empire, Chris Miller, the writer-producer of the film compared Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back because when the film was released back in 1980, Lucasfilm mixed all the goodness of the previous films with a tad bit of agony, it creates an emotional story where “where you need to see the third one.”

“People who’ve seen Across… have told us that it feels like The Empire Strikes Back of the Spider-Verse franchise. It shows you worlds you haven’t seen, and it’s an emotional story that ends in a place where you need to see the third one. So, yeah: this is our Empire.”

With Chris Miller’s opinion of the movie, it looks like Miles Morales is looking for a challenge in the sequel, as the movie would present new villains such as The Spot, whose body is covered in multiverse portals, and the animated film will introduce a more menacing look on the Vulture, the legendary villain of the Spider-Man universe.
