While some argued that the difficulty in comprehending Bane’s words added to his enigmatic nature, Nolan has taken note of the feedback and recognized the importance of ensuring clear and intelligible dialogue in his future projects.

“There’s no safety net for any of these guys and Tom, I mean… what he did with that character has yet to be fully appreciated. It’s an extraordinary performance, and truly amazing,” Nolan said. “The voice, the relationship between just seeing the eyes and the brow. We had all these discussions about the mask and what it would reveal and what it wouldn’t reveal, and one of the things I remember him saying to me, he sort of put his finger up to his temple and his eyebrow and said, ‘Can you give me this to play with? Let people see this.'”

During the Happy Sad Confused podcast interview, Christopher Nolan not only shared his thoughts on Tom Hardy’s performance in The Dark Knight Rises but also defended David Fincher’s directorial debut with Alien 3. Nolan expressed his belief that there is a constant demand for sequels to be bigger in scale, acknowledging that filmmakers themselves contribute to this expectation.

Not Everyone Was Impressed By Tom Hardy’s Bane
