Since it was recently exposed that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes had been maintaining romantic relationships for a while, the anchors of Good Morning America have garnered a ton of unwelcomed attention. After the revelation, the couple has been the subject of tabloid stories, with viewers scrutinizing every word spoken on camera to see whether either was referring to the relationship’s discovery.

Despite being initially permitted to continue anchoring at ABC, when information of their affair first broke. The pair was benched from their responsibilities at the early-afternoon program in early December. According to Kantar, a company that tracks ad expenditure, the leading morning program made close to $281 million in advertising in 2021.

Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, decided to pull them off the air to quell rumors and conjecture out of concern that they may damage the reputation of the whole Good Morning America brand. A company representative gave out a statement stating,

“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”

The president addressed her staff on Friday via email, stating the decision they had reached. She also addressed the chaos that unfolded after the pair came out in the open.

“I want to share with you that we’ve reached a decision about T.J. and Amy. I know that this has been a distraction for so many of us, but let’s not forget all the great work that continues to make ABC News the No. 1 news network in America, and that’s because of you, I want to thank you again for your patience and professionalism during this time.”

Both T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were married to different people, and Holmes’ wife filed for a divorce. Their lawyer said that they will keep the process amicable and smooth considering their 9-year-old daughter.

A source opened up about the duo’s reaction to ABC’s statement, they emphasized on how tough it has been for the anchors since they opened up about their relationship. Currently, the duo is looking at a dead end, they know they will not be reinstated at ABC.

“They can’t believe this is happening to them. Amy and T.J. are devastated. They’re very, very much together in every way. They’re proceeding with their divorces as they were going to anyway, and they’re in mediation with ABC about what the future holds. But nobody feels like they could possibly be put back on air after the way this has been handled.”

However, this has not dampened their relationship, Robach wants to keep her job but does not regret her relationship even if she loses her job, “it’s for love” adds the insider. The couple continues to spend time together post-hiatus from the show.
