Sydney Sweeney Speaks Up About Her N*de Scenes In Euphoria And Trolls Who Spread Her Photos

Sitting down with GQ, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney admitted she was aware of her pictures going viral on the web, but since it became unmanageable now and people started tagging her family members, the actress had to speak up:

It got to the point where they were tagging my family. My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair.”

Indeed, there was a similarity between her case and her on-screen character’s dilemma, something that proved life imitates art. Sweeney continued:

You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a s*xualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.”

The White Lotus star said she found out her photos were being shared online when her younger brother was tagged in a screenshot from the show. Sweeney pointed out to the Independent that she is not her character:

That was the most hurtful thing that anybody could do. What I do is completely separate from my family. My character is completely separate to me. It’s just so disrespectful and distressing.”

Despite the backlash she faced, the 26-year-old actress has no desire to stop doing intimate scenes and appearing all bare on screen. She defended that n*dity is essential as long as it is viewed as art and a part of a larger story. She told The Hollywood Reporter:

I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry.”

The actress said she was happy that people were finally recognizing her talent when she appeared in The White Lotus. Sweeney believed they did not take her seriously in Euphoria because of her n*de scenes.
