For the time being, no actress for Storm has been finalized in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Michaela Coel could definitely throw her name in the hat and take a chance by trying to portray Storm someday. After all, she could certainly show the world just how good of an action star she is, and become the best Storm in X-Men history, in the process.

While speaking to Vogue, Michaela Coel disclosed that the characters engage in a forbidden affair, causing disruption in ranks, which aligns with the comic lore. She emphasized accepting queer sexuality, agreeing to the role to normalize homosexuality, particularly for the people of Ghana, given her Ghanaian descent:

“I thought: I like that, I want to show that to Ghana. People say, ‘Oh, it’s fine, it’s just politics.’ But I don’t think it is just politics when it affects how people get to live their daily lives. That’s why it felt important for me to step in and do that role because I know just by my being Ghanaian, Ghanaians will come.”

Michaela Coel also revealed that since the passing of Chadwick Boseman because of colon cancer, they had been shooting the film every day for his remembrance and ensured it paid homage to him.

“There was a sense that we have to bring this baby home in the name of Chadwick. I thought to myself, I’m rolling up my sleeves and I’m getting in. I don’t need to be front and center, I’m here to support.”

Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was the end of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and fans agree that things just had not been going well for the MCU long before the it’s release.
