Remedy Entertainment’s latest title Alan Wake 2, which came out in late 2023, has proved to be a massive hit. Moreover, the game became Remedy’s fastest-selling title to date. Apart from the commercial success, the game was also nominated for multiple Game of the Year Awards.
The commercial success of Alan Wake 2 has paved the way ahead for Remedy’s upcoming projects such as Condor, Control 2, and the Max Payne series remake. Additionally, as the development team shifted their focus from Alan Wake 2 to these games, Remedy expects all of these games to reach the developmental stage during the first half of this year.
Alan Wake 2 developer talks about Project Condor
The video game industry has seen an increase in the development of co-op games in the last few years with the advancement of technology. However, for game development studios, it is a very challenging space ranging from scalability, data security, anti-cheat, and server bandwidth, to name a few.
Despite these challenges, many developers today are focusing on making more and more of these games because it has become an easy way for them to expand their player base. This is also the case with Remedy, and the studios’ communication director Thomas Puha added that they are “well aware of how challenging the co-op multiplayer space is”.
To tap into this emerging market and to expand its player base, Remedy is working on a live service Control spin-off game codenamed Project Condor. Since the upcoming game will be of the live service model, the base game will come at a lower price tag and the developer will make money in the form of in-game transactions, additional content, etc.
With this, the studios’ communication director added,
They way I look at is, it’s for fans we don’t have yet! We need to grow our audience and I
welcome the challenge
A thing I find fascinating is whenever our WIP multiplayer stuff gets mentioned like Condor from our financial report last week, is some level of concern around why and do our fans want it. They way I look at is, its for fans we dont have yet! We need to grow our audience and I…

The challenge Puha is talking about here is that today most of the multiplayer side project games that come with the live service elements are associated with greed on the part of the developers. Since many of these games come with a lower price tag, they are flocked by players, and as they get hooked to these games, they are charged a huge amount of money in the form of in-game transactions and additional content.
As it has been previously stated by Remedy, Project Condor will be a multiplayer live service game, the negative connotation associated with these games is the hurdle the developers need to overcome.
Project Condor’s release date
In the upcoming Remedy game codenamed Project Condor which will be a spin-off of Control, players will assume the role of agents who work for the Federal Bureau of Controls. Project Condor was first announced in 2021 after Remedy got the publishing and development rights from 505 Games.
This game will mark Remedy Entertainment’s entry into the multiplayer games space. Moreover, the game will come with a lower price tag and will have live service elements in it.
The game was in its proof of concept stage as confirmed by the studios’ CEO Tero Virtela back in 2023. Additionally, with the success of Alan Wake 2, the Project Condor is expected to enter its developmental stage very soon.
The game will be built using the Northlight engine and will be released on PC and other current-generation consoles. However, as of now, no official release date for the game has been confirmed yet by Remedy.
