Jeremy Renner Hints At His Return After Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom Casting Announcement
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, Jeremy Renner opened up about receiving the news of Robert Downey Jr.‘s Dr. Doom casting. Renner shared that he had no idea that the Iron Man actor was returning to the Marvel Universe. He shared that he and the rest of the OG Avengers actors did not even get an update on their group chat.
When asked whether he would return to the newly announced Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Renner was more than happy to take on the opportunity. Renner shared that the films were a large undertaking, now that veterans like Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers have re-entered the universe.
He predicted that this new direction of Marvel is going to do well. However, Renner shared that it would be challenging to get all the previous actors together. The Mayor of Kingstown actor shared that if the actors were to be brought in, Marvel would have to work a week-by-week schedule to work around the actors’ tight schedules.
Renner’s positive update that they will probably bring the actors back and do the two Multiverse Saga finale films is promising for fans. But as Renner shared, fans will have to wait for more updates since the announcement is still brand new. Renner shared with Us Weekly:
I think it’s going to be challenging to get everybody together. I think they’re going to probably have to piece it together. Like week by week kind of thing. Just people’s schedules. It’s a lot of people.
But I’m excited about… I think we’ll see… I think we’ll probably be doing it. We’ll have to figure it out. It’s all brand new. It all just happened, right. They just made an announcement, so I guess we got to start figuring it all out.

Jeremy Renner Earlier Expressed Interest In Returning to Marvel After Regaining His Fitness
Jeremy Renner made his fans happy when he was seen pulling some Hawkeye-level sharp-shooting skills in a Super Bowl ad earlier this year. The actor, who performed his own stunts in his movies, shared with ET that he almost believed he had to “hang up [his] cape”. Renner shared at the time that he was 90% as strong as he was before the snowplowing accident.
He shared that doing the ad made him realize he was on a path to full recovery and even beyond. When asked about his return to the MCU at the time, he shared that he had heard rumors about “different stuff” and wanted to be part of them. The Mission: Impossible actor shared that he was all game to rejoin the universe if they approached him for a role. Renner shared with ET:
They talk about a lot of different stuff man. I’m always game. I’m going to be strong enough. That’s for sure. So yeah, if they want me, they can have me. Look, I got metal legs and stuff.
Renner made an appearance at the Phoenix Fan Fusion convention in June 2023, just months after his accident. During the convention, Renner was asked about his potential return to the MCU as Hawkeye. The Bourne Legacy actor was quick to respond, stating, “If Marvel wants me back, I’ll do it in a heartbeat.”
Avengers: Doomsday is slated for a 2026 release, which means any casting news will be confirmed soon.
