Jeremy Renner‘s new Super Bowl commercial has him pulling some Hawkeye-level sharp-shooting skills and even jumping up on the kitchen counter. Entertainment Tonight interviewed the Mayor of Kingstown actor about the ad. Renner shared that he typically performs his own stunts in his movies and, after the accident, almost believed he was going to “hang up [his] cape.” However, the new ad reassured him that he has still got “a little bit” up his sleeves.

Renner provided ET with an update on his current health, stating that he is almost 90% as strong as he was before the accident. He mentioned needing just another six months to regain his full physical strength. Renner explained that he chose to do the ad for Silk because these protein shakes had a major impact on his recovery. The Mission: Impossible actor revealed that with a broken jaw, he could only consume Silk almond milk.

Renner was also asked about his return to the MCU and the rumors about his appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars. He also admitted that he had heard these rumors about “different stuff”. The Hurt Locker actor added that he was all game to join the universe if Marvel approached him for the role. He revealed that he would be strong enough if such an offer came through, even joking that he has metal legs now. Renner shared with ET:

“They talk about a lot of different stuff man. I’m always game. I’m going to be strong enough. That’s for sure. So yeah, if they want me, they can have me. Look, I got metal legs and stuff.”

Renner appears in the Super Bowl ad alongside his daughter Ava. She earlier appeared in the American Hustle actor’s music video from his album, Love and Titanium. Ava has accompanied Renner to several movie sets, but she has only appeared in front of the camera for the music video and the new commercial.

Jimmy Kimmel even went on to appreciate the Arrival actor for making a mockery of his injuries. Renner made an appearance at the Phoenix Fan Fusion convention in June, just months after his accident.

During the convention, Renner was asked about his potential return to the MCU as Hawkeye. The Bourne Legacy actor was quick to respond, stating, “If Marvel wants me back, I’ll do it in a heartbeat.” For fans, the actor has already made his comeback in the MCU with his voice role in the third episode of What If…? Season 2, titled What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?.

The big multiversal war in Avengers: Secret Wars is still a few years away, but Renner could potentially reprise his role, again as a voice actor, in the upcoming project, Marvel Zombies. What If…? Season 2 is now available for streaming on Disney+.
