A year after his tragic snowplow accident, Jeremy Renner has returned to work to film the third season of his Paramount drama, Mayor of Kingstown. Starring as Mike McLusky, the Rennervations star has many reservations about the arduous filming process and long hours on set.
After undergoing extreme trauma and multiple surgeries, the actor is still in the phase of recovery. While he is excited to start work, the actor does not feel as confident about the filming part since he still does not have enough lower body strength to film in extreme conditions.
Jeremy Renner On Returning To Work After Devastating Accident
It has been a little over a year since Jeremy Renner was fatally injured in a tragic snowplow accident in his Nevada home on New Year’s Day. Following a long road to recovery, which is yet far from over, the actor has returned to work for the first time to shoot the third season of the Mayor of Kingstown. Talking to People, exclusively, Renner revealed he has been feeling a lot of mixed emotions, from gratitude to fear.
Still scared to be back, he stated,
“I don’t know if I’m looking forward to it. Again, I try to just do everything kind of step by step here. That’s one foot in front of the other one. Then you’re walking.”
Although the actor is pretty excited to be back filming, he is just tentative about confidence in work. After breaking over 30 bones, having had his rib cage rebuilt with metal, plates inserted along his eye socket, titanium rods in one leg, and jaw held together by rubber bands and screws (via THR), the actor is skeptical of returning to work.
Furthermore, with much less lower body strength than before and the arduous filming that requires 14-18 hours in the freezing cold outside in Pittsburgh, Renner is understandably afraid of slipping or falling and injuring himself yet again.
Jeremy Renner Is Still Nervous About Returning To Work
While talking to ABC exclusively last year in April, Jeremy Renner stated how he had absolutely refused to be haunted by his tragic snowplow accident despite it causing him multiple injuries, extreme pain, and misery.
However, it is not a memory that he can easily forget, for he was in such a perilous condition that he was categorized as a level red trauma case. This trauma only adds to his nervousness about returning to work, where he is supposed to put in too many hours of work while in harsh freezing conditions.
Upon making his return to the set, the actor posted an update on his Instagram page, marking his first day on set while exclaiming how nervous he is to be back,
“Day one on set … nervous today. Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fan.”
While fans were quick to wish him luck and praised him for making his return, we too hope Jeremy Renner courageously continues on his path of recovery and has a safe time filming.
The first two seasons of Mayor of Kingstown can be streamed on Paramount Plus, while the third season details are yet to be announced.
