Ever since Charlie Cox debuted as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been clamoring for the Man Without Fear to team up with the Avengers. Cox is actually enthusiastic about working with other fellow Marvel actors, especially the veteran ones.
Daredevil has had a lot of pairings in the comics, and one of the most popular was with Spider-Man. While fans surely want that to happen, the actor has a different wish in mind.
Charlie Cox Wants To Collaborate With Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man
During his appearance at Wales Comic Con via Geektown, actor Charlie Cox, who portrayed Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil series, revealed the Avenger he wants his character to team up with at some point in the future. He stated:
“I was actually catching up on some of the comics recently, and I was reading one from 2020 where Daredevil and Iron Man have a bit of a run-in together, which is quite fun. I was thinking that would be very cool.”
Everyone would definitely love to see Daredevil and Iron Man in one frame, but since Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic hero died in Avengers: Endgame, this sort of becomes a pipe dream. Still, Cox believes it could still be possible because Marvel has the power to revive even dead characters if they want. He continued:
“I don’t think that’s possible now because he’s dead, isn’t he? But you know, it’s Marvel, who knows. For a personal reason, I think that would be cool to have that little moment.”
The Stardust lead also spoke highly of Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, praising the actor on his epic portrayal of the character that kickstarted the MCU. Cox also attributed the success of the franchise to Downey Jr. He further added:
“This whole cinematic Marvel kind of decade and a half, two decades, or whatever it’s been, where it’s really been a staple of so many people’s entertainment consumption, a lot of that I think is a credit to Robert Downey Jr. and the work he did with that character. That kind of, I almost sometimes think of Marvel as the House That Downey Built, you know what I mean?”
That was indeed a very noble commendation for the Sherlock Holmes actor! Cox’s wish to collaborate with Downey Jr. may sound farfetched at this point, but as he said, only Marvel would know.
Daredevil: Born Again Will Be Marvel Studios’ Biggest TV Commitment
While Iron Man’s return to the MCU remains a mystery, Charlie Cox’s reprisal of Daredevil is not a secret – he will be gracing the small screen very soon in Daredevil: Born Again with Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio.
Dario Scardapane recently joined the series as showrunner, working alongside directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The filming for Daredevil: Born Again has already begun, but it was paused mid-production due to the strike.
The series project will be Marvel Studios’ biggest television commitment after it was granted an 18-episode order. So far, television shows proved to have mixed reactions from fans, but the intense anticipation for the Daredevil reboot guarantees it will be another success for the studio.
