What helps in making a game successful is the amount of effort and detail that the developing studio has dedicated while producing the title. Ninja Theory has done well in that regard by pouring their hearts and souls into the upcoming Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, scheduled to be released exclusively on PC and Xbox on May 21st.
The upcoming game promises to offer a unique nightmare experience for fans of this category. In order to help develop a proper effect on the player’s mind while they progress in the story, the studio even hired a mental health expert to show how psychosis affects the gameplay.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Hires A Mental Health Advisor To Better Understand The Impact Of Psychosis
In their hands-on experience with the game, PCgamesN had the opportunity to converse with none other than Professor Paul Fletcher, who acts as a mental health advisor for Ninja Theory. Talking about how psychosis comes into play while experiencing the game, Fletcher explained-
“It’s not about the voices suddenly disappearing or the past being blotted out, It’s much more about achieving a new meaning and purpose for the future.”
For context, the advisor recalled his conversations in the past with people who have lived through the experience of psychosis and explained how the mechanic was being implemented in the game. He revealed that it is not as trivial as most might think, and can mean even more in the coming time.
While many players will be inclined to purchase the game for the unique gameplay experience it offers, there are a few other factors about the game that will attract a bigger player base. One such factor is how the combat system of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is inspired by the renowned Game of Thrones series.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Takes Inspiration From A Game of Thrones Episode
The combat system that has been put in place in the game takes inspiration from the “Battle of the Bastards” episode from the popular Game of Thrones series. Unfortunately, players on Xbox would not be able to enjoy this to their fullest extent, as the studio has decided to limit the console versions of the game to just 30 FPS.
For better context, the combat system is referred from a sequence where the character of Jon Snow is shown tearing his way through enemies in the aforementioned episode. It was revealed by the combat director of the game how this particular scene has been the inspiration to work on ever since the production of the game began.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 can be pre-ordered on Steam.
