2024 has been a great year for gamers as the player base has witnessed the release of amazing titles ever since the start of the year. While there might be a driving wedge between Xbox and PlayStation 5 fans over the absence of Helldivers 2 on Microsoft’s platform, they both still have their respective exclusives present and forthcoming to attract sales.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is one such title that is set to launch exclusively on Xbox and PC on May 21st. However, there’s disappointment on the horizon for fans of this title, as the VFX director has revealed how the studio plans to cap the title to just 30 FPS, further explaining why such a measure is being implemented.

Why Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Will Be Capped At 30 FPS

As much as the players would like to enjoy a higher frame rate on the upcoming title, Mark Slater-Tunstill, the VFX director of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has revealed via Gamepro how the console’s version will be locked to 30 FPS. There will be dynamic resolution, but no availability of other graphic settings that the player can tweak to their wishes and neither a performance mode, which would have allowed for a higher frame rate.

Luckily, those playing the game on PC will not be experiencing this cap and will be able to obtain way higher framerates than the console versions. The VFX director further mentioned how the FPS cap will allow the player to have more of a “cinematic” feel, delivering a better experience for the players on Xbox.

What makes this situation almost identical to the recent release of Redfall by Arkane Studios is how the title had its frame rate capped at 30 FPS at launch, like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Fortunately, Arkane a few months later decided to implement a 60 FPS mode anyway following the controversies surrounding the title.

Amongst all the chaos, Xbox players might have another thing going for them, as a new and upcoming title similar to Helldivers 2 has been announced. Titled Jump Ship, the game is going to stay exclusive to Microsoft’s platform and PC, at least for its early access program.

Why Jump Ship Might Be A Silver Lining For Xbox Players

While it’s essential to steer clear of console wars as they encourage exclusivity and more barriers within the gaming community, Sony’s refusal to budge on Helldivers 2 on Xbox has prompted players to root for another game that leaves out PS5 to hang and dry.

Called to be a healthy mix of Sea of Thieves and Helldivers 2, Jump Ship is a game with no scheduled release yet. It is an online co-op where players in a team of 4 will get to explore outer space and go on missions in their craft, and it might just be what Xbox players need to forget the absence of Sony’s title on their platform.

More details about Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 can be taken from their Steam page.
