Meanwhile, Taylor-Johnson is set to feature in the titular role in Sony’s upcoming Kraven the Hunter. Ahead of the film’s release, Taylor-Johnson discussed his career in an issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
During the conversation, Taylor-Johnson spoke about his relationship with his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson (née Taylor-Wood), who is 24 years his senior. The Bullet Train star revealed he was surprised people found the age gap between him and his wife bizarre. He said:
“What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their twenties, I was doing when I was 13. You’re doing something too quickly for someone else? I don’t understand that. What speed are you supposed to enjoy life at? It’s bizarre to me.”
Taylor-Johnson worked with Sam Taylor-Wood, on the sets of the 2009 biographical drama film Nowhere Boy. At the time, Taylor-Johnson was around 18 years of age while Taylor-Wood was 42. They started dating soon after and were engaged in October 2009, when Taylor-Johnson was 19 years old. The couple eventually tied the knot in June 2012.

It’s not the age gap- it’s the fact that she knew him growing up as an underage actor, groomed him, and then ended up marrying him and having his kids. If they met as adults it wouldn’t be as bizarre.

If he would’ve been 25 when they first met No one would have a problem but the fact that met him when he was a teenager is what’s weird. He didn’t even live a normal life of dating someone his age. She took that away from him.

As the tweets suggest, netizens were clearly disturbed by the nature of the relationship between Taylor-Johnson and his wife. X users pointed out how the actor was extremely young when the couple first met, which was the primary reason behind the divisive reaction to their relationship.
Nonetheless, the social media chatter about his married life does not seem to affect Taylor-Johnson, as evidenced by his statement in the aforementioned interview. Similarly, in a 2017 interview with Vulture, Taylor-Johnson stated that dealing with the attention around his age-gap relationship had only helped him.
