Dwayne Johnson’s Withdrawal After WrestleMania 29

For those who are unversed with WWE, Dwayne Johnson was last seen fighting against John Cena in 2013, during WrestleMania 29. After embarrassingly losing the match against Cena, the 51-year-old deliberately shifted his career from wrestling to entertainment. However, instead of entirely quitting wrestling matches, Johnson at times made small appearances in the ring.

After losing against John Cena, Dwayne Johnson further appeared to face Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32. However, the match simply lasted for 6 seconds, which made Johnson realize he might have lost his touch. Thus, instead of taking part in WrestleMania anymore, the Black Adam actor later made a small appearance on the 20th Anniversary of SmackDown in 2019.

Further, Johnson was supposed to return to the ring to face his real-life cousin Roman Reigns, as per fans’ demand. The potential fight between the bloodlines was first proposed during WrestleMania 36 in 2020. It was reported that WrestleMania 39 might be the time when WWE fans would witness an electrifying fight between Johnson and Reigns. However, as it never happened, fans’ focus immediately shifted to WrestleMania 40.

Appearing on the latest episode of Hart to Heart, with Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson allegedly teased his audiences about his potential return. Expressing his excitement for the competition, the actor shared, “By the way, WrestleMania next year is going to be in Philadelphia”. To which Hart implied, “Well, who do you think made it happen?”.

Revealing how he pulled some strings with Nick Khan, the CEO of WrestleMania, Kevin Hart mentioned, “I heard it was him, and I said ‘okay breathe’, because he was panicking. I said, ‘I’ll connect the dots’ make it happen Philadelphia”. Explaining further, Hart mentioned how he will have to shut down the city for 2 days, for the competition to happen.

Nonetheless, when Dwayne Johnson asked if he could call Nick Khan after the interview to cross-check, Kevin Hart opposed him saying “It’s our secret”. Trying to keep Johnson away from messing with the arrangements even Hart seems to be willing to witness the match between the actor and Roman Reigns. However, as WrestleMania 40 is still eight months away, all we can do is hope.
