Hollywood has this weird fascination of often featuring real-life couples alongside each other in acclaimed projects. However, not everyone is fond of this practice. Actress Rachel Weisz recently voiced her opinion on working on the same projects as her husband Daniel Craig.
Unwilling to mix business with pleasure, Rachel Weisz explained to Willie Geist on Today why she prefers working separately from her husband, Daniel Craig. The couple last worked together nearly a decade ago and never shared the screen, thereafter.
Rachel Weisz Doesn’t Like Working With Her Husband Daniel Craig
Iconic actress, Rachel Weisz who got her breakthrough role from her appearance in Mummy, alongside Brendan Fraser, recently unveiled Dead Ringers at the Cannes International Series Festival. Following the Cannes premiere of her latest project, the actress appeared for an interview with Today.
During her interview, the actress discussed her opinion on working with her husband, Daniel Craig. Revealing how she doesn’t like mixing business with pleasure, Rachel Weisz voiced her opinion to Willie Geist. Preferring to work separately from Craig, the actress explained her reasons.
“I think we aren’t going to (co-star) at the moment. We really love our private life as a life, as a family. And then we go to work separately.”
Keeping her professional life and family separate, Rachel Weisz recalled her experience of previously working with Daniel Craig. The couple first worked together in 1994 for the play Les Grandes Horizontales at the National Theatre Studio in London. Following that, the duo later starred in the 2011 horror movie Dream House.
When Rachel Weisz And Daniel Craig Last Shared The Screen
Recalling her experience of working with Daniel Craig both times, Rachel Weisz picked her experience from Dream House (2011). It was the last time the duo shared the screen, and probably pledged to never mix their career with their personal life. Thus, reflecting upon her 2011 movie, Weisz told Today, “We really enjoyed that experience.”
“I can stay home with the family while he works. We can swap out. If we’re both doing something at the same time, it’s probably less ideal.”
Preferring “alternate” acting schedules, Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig thus agreed on coming to a common ground and keeping their business separate. Discussing how the same work schedules often hamper their family life with their kids, the actress mentioned choosing different projects for convenience.
Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz last appeared together in Dream House, a lesser-known horror movie, that earned a 7% RT rating. Performing miserably at the box office, the movie tanked despite a thrilling storyline. However, following that project, the couple pledged to never share the screen despite being married for 12 years.
