Actors are passionate individuals, and one actor took his passion, for sports, to another level after a massive NFL controversy spiraled back in 2015. Batman star, Ben Affleck was irked after iconic quarterback Tom Brady was suspended for four matches after the ‘Deflategate’ football controversy between New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. The Good Will Hunting actor went cussing the NFL in a public interview that left the entertainment world stunned.
Affleck’s expletive-laden rant went viral, deriving mixed reactions from all over. However, the actor seemed quite engrossed in stating his point, claiming it was injustice done to Tom Brady. He backed the athlete for not giving up his phone to the authorities and condemned his suspension.

Ben Affleck described his standpoint on the greatest off-field NFL controversy
Appearing on HBO’s premiere of Any Given Wednesday with host Bill Simmons, the 51-year-old star seized the opportunity to share his thoughts on the ‘Deflategate’ scandal. A New England Patriots fanatic, Ben Affleck left viewers jaw-dropped with his rant, as he persistently cursed throughout the interview. The two-time Oscar winner yelled,
“Deflategate is the ultimate b***sh*t f**king outrage of sports ever. It’s so f**king stupid that I can’t believe it. They gave him a suspension for a quarter of the season, which would be equivalent of suspending a baseball player for 40 f**king days—40 quarter days, to be exact.”
Affleck expressed his support for Brady, who resisted giving up his phone to the NFL. The Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice actor described the sports organization as “leak-prone” and that even he would never give them his “f**king cell phone.” He also bashed them for invasion of privacy and addressed the continuing domestic violence within the domain.

What happened in the ‘Deflategate’ controversy?
In 2015, former NFL star, Tom Brady, a New England Patriots veteran was accused of ordering the deflation of footballs, a serious rule-break, at the 2014 AFC title game, facing Indianapolis Colts. After deeper investigations, Brady was found to be aware of the mishap and faced suspension in the 2016 Season whereas the Patriots were fined $1 million, and named out of two draft picks.

Brady’s preference for softer balls, which are easier to catch, throw, and grip pointed fingers at him, per ESPN. Denying the allegations, Brady sued the NFL for the suspension. However, prior to the investigation, Brady refused to turn in his phone and destroyed it which raised doubts. Hence, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell claimed that Brady intentionally destroyed evidence, leading to his suspension.
Usually in his warm and friendly demeanor, Ben Affleck’s rage for the NFL was a newer glimpse into his persona. While the viewers understood his deep passion for the NFL sphere, and admiration for Tom Brady, they were taken aback by his F-bombs.
