Anne Hathway starred with Succession star Jeremy Strong in James Gray’s Armageddon Time, which was based on his upbringing in New York at a time of prejudice. The film also had an ensemble cast, starring Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Chastain. Though the film was highly acclaimed, it was a commercial failure, earning only $6.5 million against a $15 million budget.

Hathway also starred in the miniseries WeCrashed with actor Jared Leto, both portraying real-life entrepreneurs Adam and Rebekah Neumann, the founders of WeWork. Hathway was asked by a fan on the talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen about her experience working with Strong and Leto, who are known for their complete immersion in their roles, even off-camera.

Anne Hathway had a hilarious response to the question,

“Oh, it’s so fun because I am not the weird one on set. And it’s great because both of them are so bold…and so good…I can be a bit timid sometimes when I first meet people. [So] it shakes me right out of it and makes it about the work. You feel like you can’t fail because you’re just playing and experimenting and seeking. So, I felt like I had two unbelievable partners that I was working with and I loved it.”

The actors have been known for their intense preparation for their roles and many behind-the-scenes antics while in character.

Both Jeremy Strong and Jared Leto are known for their intense method acting practices on sets. Strong has mentioned that he believes that one has to go through what the character has gone through to react in a certain way. Due to this method, Strong has had multiple injuries while on the sets of Succession.

Jared Leto on the other hand is known for being in character even off-camera and has been criticized for it on multiple occasions. The Fight Club star is infamous for his body transformations for his roles. He famously gained 67 pounds for the role of Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon in the film Chapter 27. The intense weight gain reportedly gave the actor gout. He also reportedly lost 30 pounds for his Oscar-winning role in Dallas Buyer’s Club.

Leto reportedly was in character during the filming of Suicide Squad, in which he played the Joker. He reportedly sent creepy gifts to his co-stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis, such as a live rat, a used condom, and a dead hog. The actor barely had seven minutes of screen time in the film. He also reportedly walked on crutches and then eventually on a wheelchair while filming the critical and commercial failure, Morbius.
