James Gunn Debunks Pom Klementieff’s Superman: Legacy Rumors

James Gunn took to Threads to clear the air on Pom Klementieff’s potential casting in his highly anticipated film Superman: Legacy. He clarified that the Guardians of the Galaxy star is not in the film stating, “Despite Pom being one of my favorite actors to work with, this is 100% not true.”

Gunn also shared that he is surprised by the rumor regarding Klementieff’s involvement in a project. He expressed his disbelief over the rumors, stating,

“I honest to God can’t imagine where the Pom thing came from. It’s so weird to me. Usually the actual trades aren’t this far off.”

The Suicide Squad director further stated that no such discussions have taken place, and he has no idea which role she would possibly play in the movie. The updates came after Gunn shared his criticism for meaningless cameos in the recent superhero films.

James Gunn Has Discussed a DC Role For Pom Klementieff

He has shared that the Mission Impossible actress is one of his favorite actors to work with and has plans for her DCU debut in a completely separate project from Superman: Legacy.

“One thousand percent – a specific character that has nothing to do with ‘Superman Legacy,” he said in a recent Threads post. While the actress would not be in the movie, his Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars Sean Gunn and Nathan Fillion are expected to appear in Superman: Legacy.

The film’s cast includes David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in the leading roles of Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Other notable additions to the cast include Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, and Edi Gathegi. Gunn has also confirmed that Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor in the film.

Superman: Legacy is set to release on July 11, 2025.
