Why Is Shawn Levy Not Rushing to Make Free Guy 2?

Shawn Levy went on to explain why his 2011 movie, Real Steel did not get a sequel and why he is being cautious about making a sequel for Free Guy. He stated that he does not like to make sequels until and unless there is a requirement for them. He also said that he did not go forward with a sequel for Real Steel because he did not believe that it would do as well as the original.

“I’m holding Free Guy to that same standard. We are still hearing ideas, developing ideas, and expounding on ideas. But I would say that in the time that’s passed since Free Guy came out, the love for that movie has become more and more clear to Ryan and me, anecdotally, on sidewalks, and in the press. So we’re not going to mess with a good thing unless we can make a great thing.” He stated.

He went on to say that they are currently weighing all their options in terms of where the story should go in Free Guy 2. He also added that he is quite happy with the success that Free Guy has gathered ever since its release and would not want to mess with that until and unless they can outdo the original movie.
