Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger remained an iconic figure in the entertainment industry thanks to his action movies. With movies like The Terminator (1984), Total Recall (1990), and Commando (1985), Schwarzenegger managed to establish himself as a talented actor.
In the 2000s, we saw less of Schwarzenegger on screen, mainly because of his political involvement, but in the 2010s, he was back in the movie business once again. However, since 2019, we haven’t seen the actor on the big screen. With his upcoming movie, Breakout, the actor will be returning to his roots. The director of the movie, Scott Waugh, has confirmed that the audience will get the “real Arnold Schwarzenegger” in this movie.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is all set for his comeback
2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate was the last time fans saw actor Arnold Schwarzenegger on the big screen but fans no longer have to wait as the actor is planning his comeback with director Scott Waugh’s upcoming movie, Breakout.
Breakout is different as this will be Schwarzenegger’s return to classic action flicks with almost no comedy. Waugh previously confirmed that fans will get the real Schwarzenegger in the movie (via JoBlo),
“I think Breakout’s gonna be a really cool movie for Arnold. It’s really gonna get back to real hard Arnold. There’s not much comedy in it at all and it’s still him whipping a** at 75.”
In the movie, Schwarzenegger plays Terry Reynolds, whose stepson, Daniel, is framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign country. Reynolds then plans a jailbreak to save him and must face the authorities in a race against time to avoid capture and flee the country.
Arnold Schwarzenegger recently appeared in Netflix’s FUBAR
Earlier this year, Schwarzenegger made his TV debut as a lead actor with Netflix’s FUBAR. The action-comedy television series was well-received by the fans, but there was some criticism for its terrible jokes. In June, the series was renewed for a second season.
Apart from this, fans will get to see Schwarzenegger in Kung Fury 2 in 2023. The film was shot in 2019 but in 2020, the post-production was halted because of a lawsuit that was filed against the investors.
With Breakout, fans hope to see Schwarzenegger in his natural element once again. Obviously, because of his age, things won’t be the same but it’s surely exciting to see the actor taking up a role like this once again. From the big screen to the political stage, Schwarzenegger has always shown determination, making him one of the most prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
