When Jim Carrey first grew his beard, he spoke up on Jimmy Kimmel Live about how the entire experience had been. He explained that it became a spectacle for the fans and they could not stop talking about it. So much so that his beard had its own Twitter (now X). Everyone kept asking him about why he was growing it in the first place.
“Everywhere I go, people talk about the beard. They go, ‘What are you doing? Why are you growing a beard?’ It’s like they can’t really think about anything else. There’s something different about me, and it’s that damn beard. And wherever I show up, it becomes the story. It has its own Twitter.”
He stated that people could not see beyond his beard because of how distracting it became for everyone. It was a topic of discussion no matter how or what they would actually be talking about. However, to get back on these fans who could not see further than his beard, he gave a reply that stopped everyone.
Jim Carrey Made His Fans Quiet Down
Talking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jim Carrey revealed that he began questioning the fans who kept asking him about it. In his usual charismatic manner, he doubted the questions they asked him. He talked about how he was growing a beard in order to maintain balance within himself.
“I always say, ‘The question is not why are you growing a beard? The question is why am I growing a beard and still shaving my ba**s? It doesn’t make any sense. It’s like a balance thing, you know? It’s like if I’m shaved down and then I got to do this. So if I ever shave my face again, you’ll know.”
In a manner of humor, he explained that if not his beard, then the hair would grow elsewhere. So if one day his fans were to see him without his beard, then they can imagine just what is going on.
